Navagio coastline in Zakynthos

Explore the island

Zakynthos Guide

One island, several very different coastlines and enough variety to give every day its own pace.

Plan by area

Do not try to see the whole island in one day.

Zakynthos combines busy coastal resorts, a compact capital, protected beaches, mountain villages and a much wilder western shore. The best way to explore is to group places by area and leave time for swimming, meals and unplanned stops.

Divine Villa sits near Laganas on the south side of the island. That makes the gulf, Zakynthos Town and the airport practical, while north and west coast days are better planned as dedicated car or boat excursions.

Four useful directions

Choose the kind of island day you want.

Navagio and the north

The shipwreck coast is known for white cliffs and blue water. Boat access and official viewing arrangements can change, so check current local guidance before travelling.

Zakynthos Town and Bohali

Combine the port, churches, museums and shopping streets with the elevated view from Bohali above the capital.

Laganas Gulf

South-coast boat trips visit the gulf, Marathonisi and nearby caves. Choose operators that follow Marine Park rules.

Keri and the west

Keri, Marathias and the western coves offer a quieter landscape, dramatic sunsets and a different side of the island.

Blue Caves

The northern sea caves are usually experienced by boat and can be combined with a north-coast route when sea conditions allow.

Vasilikos beaches

The southeast peninsula offers several beaches and a slower coastal drive, useful for a full beach-focused day.

Travel responsibly

The island's beauty depends on protected places.

Marathonisi and parts of the south coast are associated with Caretta caretta nesting and the National Marine Park. Keep distance from turtles, follow beach and boating rules, and avoid treating protected areas as ordinary entertainment zones.

Weather, sea conditions and official access restrictions can affect boat routes and viewpoints. Confirm details locally before setting out.
